Dancing with the Stars Season 9 had a much-inflated cast of contestants. The sixteen different competitors easily remains the record for most people competing on Dancing with the Stars at one time. When I first heard about the number of dancers, I rejoiced, because I naturally assumed this meant more episodes. But the decision to expand the contestant field actually led to the travesty of multiple people being eliminated in one week (which is only appropriate for the final).
Dancing with the Stars Season 9 Judges: Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli
Dancing with the Stars Season 9 Co-Hosts: Tom Bergeron, Samantha Harris
Dancing with the Stars Season 9 Time: Autumn 2009
Here's a list of Dancing with the Stars celebrities and their professional partners during Season 9.
I was suprised at how effective of a dancer Kelly Osborne was. It helped that Osborne was paired with Derek Hough, who helped Brooke Burke take the title in Season 7. Aaron Carter mounted a strong challenge, while the effervescent Joanna Krupa completely charmed me. But this competition eventually came down to three stars: Kelly Osborne, Mya, and Donny Osmond.
Here's a list of the contestants from Dancing with the Stars Season 9:
Mya would have won in most other seasons. She was just that good. I honestly thought Kelly Osborn would end up in second place, especially since she had fan favorite Louis Amstel at her side. Mya deserved the spot, though she was unable to compete with showbiz legend Donny Osmond.
You won't find many competitors that I can pick out in the beginning of a Dancing with the Stars competition as the clear favorite, but I knew Donny Osmond would win the moment the field was announced. Donny Osmond has the charm, the talent, and the experience to impress crowds. He's been doing it his whole life, whether it was way back on the Donny & Marie Show or in his amazing turn in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Donny Osmond has chops and he was destined to win Dancing with the Stars Season 9.
